A Primary Care Drug Therapy Pharmacist may perform the following acts and services:
Comprehensive patient history taking
Physical examination
Assessment of diagnosed and undiagnosed conditions listed in the Primary Health Care Standard Treatment Guidelines and Essential Medicines List
Ordering, Conducting and interpretation of applicable diagnostic and laboratory tests
Interpretation of the assessment and/or diagnosis
Decision on safe and appropriate therapy
Prescribing of medicines for the conditions identified for the purpose of Primary Care Drug Therapy as per the essential medicine list published by the National Department of Health
Monitoring of the outcomes of therapy
Referral to another health care provider where necessary
